Anyways, we're approaching the end of McKenna's 2nd year of ski racing, and her first year attempting to qualify for any future tournaments. And, so she has placed in every race this season, and we are spending the weekend in North Conway, NH so she can have her 1st go at the BWL State Tournament. Saturday is the GS race and Sunday is the Slalom race. She's a bundle of nerves, but she actually seems more concerned about when her friends will arrive than the actual race. Hopefully, her aloof nature will take her up the chairlift and allow her to do what she loves to do when she breaks through the gate tomorrow and Sunday - ski fast.
The races have been perhaps too many to post, but suffice it to say, she's amazing to watch, the coaches say she a dream to coach, and she loves what she does. She's simply sad that the season is about to end. I think these are faces (Sarah & Ali - her bestest ski buds) to watch because if they keep skiing the way they do now, the medals they will soon be holding will be accompanied by our National Anthem.
I don't often brag about my children, because honestly, they drive me batty many days, but Rob and I are genuinely proud of the commitment she has made to this sport, and the dedication and time she has put into bettering herself. If you could see her ski, you would see pure joy. And, Reed isn't too far behind her desires; however, he'll quickly say baseball is his love. His time will come this spring! You can find him on the front lawn relentlessly practicing his baseball skills in one of the more fantastic displays of imaginary baseball ever!
